    The rocks/mass could come from a collapsing star. Now all you need to do is figure out how to create a wormhole coming from a blackhole at the stern deck.

    Haven't figured out how to turn yet though.:D

    I think the dinosaurs tried that 65 million years ago, they haven't been seen since.

    this is getting complicated, now we have to factor in the Coriolis affect.

    It all depends how hard you throw them.
    If you had lots of small stones that you threw off the back of the boat, one after the other, at near the speed of light it could work, based on :-

    Force = mass x acceleration.
    To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

    One practical problem with this, you would not want to pass astern of this vessel.

    Isn't that another reason why the red light should be on the stern?

    Why rocks, just take water in a bucket and throw the water away from stern? Much more efficient when the boat is lighter.

    and if you get the water from in front of the bow you would have a suction action

    Suppose you want a rock-powered motor to produce 100kN of force, and this will propel the vessel at 5 m/s (metres per second, or about 10 knots).

    The required power, 500 kNm/s (or 500kW), is produced by a cannon which fires rocks as a velocity of 200 m/s. The rocks leave the muzzle of the cannon with a kinetic energy of 200.200/2 = 20,000 J (for each kg of rock). We would therefore need to fire 25kg of rock per second to produce 500,000 J/s.

    To travel 1,000 miles takes 100 hours, or 360,000 seconds, so 9,000 (metric) tonnes of rock will be required.

    You also require 180,000 megajoules of energy to accelerate the rocks, or about 60 tonnes of gunpowder (assuming a frictionless cannon).

    Just pile them all in the bow so the stern rises and then the boat will coast downhill all the way.

    So a pile of rocks in the bow make a stern with a rocker?

    This is getting my head in a rocker .....

    Fit a big suction tube to the bottom to "suck" the stones that way you would not need to carry them with you.
