opposite side is now covered with a layer of combi woven mat.

transom section of the mould is now up to thickness ready for some plywood to be bonded on to keep the panel nice and flat.

that will also be glassed over and have some ribs glassed on as well.

Love your work, that is something I've wanted to do to a panga style boat for a long time.

I had a friend who had a production boatin the same style as your cat here in australia and it had problems with sneezing.
When coming back down after a wave it would throw a sneeze forward of mist and then you would drive through it. It was a wet boat particularly as a console but apart from that was pretty good to use.

    thanks mate.

i will be making a separate mould for a small chine to go on the inside of the tunnel which im hoping will stop any sneezing if that happens.

ive wanted to design and build my own boat for years but its only recently that i have been able to do something after i sold my last boat which gave me enough money to do what im doing now.

my aim is to get it in to the southampton boat show next september but i don't think i will have all the plugs , moulds and first boat built by then.

im now coming to the end of the mould lay up.

i have beefed up the flange with a few extra layers of 2oz mat. i will be glassing in some webs along the flange to stop it from moving when using wedges to split the mould.

the final layer of mat in pigmented resin is going down and then it will be ready for all the ribs and reinforcing to go on and be glassed over.

can't wait to get the final layer finished either tomorrow or friday.

got to bond on a piece of ply to the transom to keep that panel flat.

    almost done the final layer.

ran out mat to finish the front section of the tunnel.

will get some more mat in the morning and finish that piece off and then make a start on fitting all the reinforcing ribs and glass them in.

:D i don't suffer from itchy fibreglass syndrome mate.

i got past that stage years ago.

i can't wait to get the reinforcing ribs on now so i can pull the mould outside and trim it up and then take it apart to see how its turned out.

fingers crossed it will all be ok.

i find that if it does itch then rinse off under a cold tap normally doe's the trick.

never rinse off under hot water as it opens the pours in the skin and the fibreglass gets in and makes it even worse.

i can literally be cover in grp dust and it don't bother me at all.

    bit more done yesterday.

    getting there now.

am hoping to have all the reinforcing done this week so i can then make up some timber frame work and glass it in so that i can then fit 150mm castors to the frame to allow the mould to be moved about easily.

have cut and stuck the reinforcing tubes through the tunnel section.

will hopefully get it all glassed in tomorrow afternoon.

tha masking tape was holding it all in place until the body filler had gone off. will peel the tape off before i glass the tubes in.

got the tubes glassed in this morning in the tunnel and have cut and fitted the tubes on the other hull.

will get that glassed in tomorrow.

just waiting on some bonding paste to turn up so i can finish the transom. i need to bond some 18mm ply to the transom to keep it flat and will also fit some tubes for the ribs and glass them in as well.

    almost there now.

just the transom to do when the bonding paste turns up and then make up the main frame work that the mould will sit on with the braked castor wheels.
