cut out holes in the deck for the fuel filler and vent hoses to go through to the tanks.

    glassed them up as well.

also sanded the cut edge of the inner gunnel so its now straight and looks good.

not much more i can do at the moment so need to get the roof mould in to another workshop so i can finish the wheelhouse.

    wheelhouse is now almost finished.

just got to fit some ribs in the roof and glass in some tubes for wiring to run through.

then it can be popped out of the mould and trimmed up and trial fitted to the boat ready for fitting.

garrybull, I'd like to know at the end of this process, if you can find out, the total weight of hull + deck + superstructure. The total weight of GRP, in short.
    Thank you.

im hoping to get the boat on a trailer and take it to a weigh bridge and weigh boat and trailer and then go back with empty trailer to find out the weight of the finished mouldings.

once i know the final weight i'll let you know.

im hoping for around 800kg max.

even if it went 1000kg it won't be the end of the world.

once the wheelhouse is on i can work on the inside and get the deck in and other parts like galley , storage compartments etc.

also got to make a start on the outboard pod soon as well.

garrybull, to me the ship, and the whole story you've given us, I feel splendid.
My curiosity about the weight is because I think it has very small frames, not longitudinal reinforcements and therefore assume that the resistance is achieved with a little more thickness in the panels. If this suppone less weight than what I consider normal for a boat of this size, I will have to study if I apply the system to my projects.
    Thanks, again

it may be the weight i said but it may be heavier.

either way it will still be lighter than most boats of this size and probably stronger.

until i weigh the boat im just guessing going by what materials ive used so far.

the tunnel acts as longitudinal support with the sides of the tunnel being upright puts a lot of strength in to the hull.

once ive finished building in the wheelhouse there will be more longitudinal panels going in so that will help massively with strength.

also got the main wheelhouse bulkhead to go in yet which is in line with the bulkhead under the deck so that makes one massive bulkhead which is really strong.

ive seen a lot of boats built in the UK that i would say are poorly built but that is there standards but its probably just me as im used to building boats really strong.

there are boat over here that have no longitudinal supports at all.

they just have ribs going from side to side and they having been building there boats like that for over 40 years with no problems.

weather stopped us from putting the boat outside today so will have to keep an eye on the weather for next week.

got the wheelhouse popped off the roof mould and trimmed up today.

i made the dash for the wheelhouse a few months back so now i can trim it to fit and then glass it in once the wheelhouse is fitted.

im hoping to get the fender rubber on monday but i need 2 rear corner pvc caps but don't think the supplier im getting it from does any.

only ones i can find online are too big.

i don't want to cut it and V it and then fold it and glue it as it will look pants.

i could make a grp cap but that would easily crack if it got hit by anything.

    thanks mate.

yeah i reckon she'll be a very dry boat which will cut through the waves very easily.

can't wait to try it out.
