I was reading back thru this subject thread, and this old posting popped out at me. makes me wonder what has happened to this kite-powered subject more recently??

"Sitting a kite surfer of the foredeck in a chair strapped down to the deck with a seatbelt should be a good seat of the pants test as how one of these work and could be adapted to a passagemaker."

I don't think that a kite surfer is going to develop a huge amount of power though for usage like this. Might be easier to simply attach the kite to a mooring point on the deck.

Their trawler Swan Song appears to be for sale here -

These folks are playing with smaller (much) cargo ship ideas, even one with foils.

I don't think any cargo vessel is really a viable ship for kite power. But a pleasure yacht of lighter displacement might be a viable idea??

(I'm still intrigued with this kite power motorsailer idea. Fuel cost will have to really rise, to make the idea catch on quicker)
