    I would like to make a pontoon barge that would approximately weigh 2tonnes with dimensions as follows;

    length- 6m
    beam- 2m
    height- 1.5m

    I would like the draft to be 0.45m when pontoon barge is empty.
    What i would like to know is how can i find out the actual draft of the pontoon barge when empty in seawater.

    The underwater volume, in cubic meters, will be the weight of the barge divided by 1026 Kg.

    If the weight is given in Kg, that operation will give a dimensionless result. (not in cubic meters). :confused:
    (I guess 1026 is the specific gravity of seawater)
    In any case, it would only be true if the block coefficient is equal to one (Cb = 1), which is unlikely.

    Block coefficient is not related to the submerged volume, it is a ratio of dimensions.

    Amazing. I will not comment. The participants in this forum can judge for themselves how far goes knowledge the others have.
