if the boat has lots of camber, 3 layers of ply will hold the shape best, unless you have very good timber workib skills, best avoid planks

Ply decks are good, they act as a huge lodging knee over the whole deck & dont leak- leaks lead to rot & wet bunks- pay attention to fixings & bedding of windows & fittings to cabin & deck, if you want the look of timber, an overlay of teak or beech payed with sika looks pretty smart.Planked timber is great, but as already mentioned your fit up & caulking skills are gunna have to be pretty flash.Regards from Jeff.

Plywood definately. Planked looks nice and is the craftsmans finish but every planked deck leaks sooner or later. Lots more work to build too.

Solid lumber planking over plywood has the advantages of both.
