    I own a 30ft Mako Boat, 1989.
Great fishing boat....however, the gunwale finish (Teak) is in pretty bad shape.
I'm thinking of changing it to fiberglass, with added storage molded into it....
The arrows on the picture point to what needs to be replaced....
I need help with finding a vendor.....I've searched the net....to no avail.

I think you mean coamings. Why not consider wood again?

Under the teak coverboards is fiberglass or more accurately a core material covered in fiberglass. You might check the clasic Mako website to see if others have done the same.

To answer your question a composite foam and fiberglass coaming can be made with removable or permenant boxes or bait tanks really what ever you need.

Another option for the replacement of Teak is to go with Starboard or other UV stable marine plastic sheet materials fabricated to your needs

Plain unfinished teak requires no maintaiance to speak of. Having something fabbed will cost a whole lot.

    You're probably right.
I guess I can reconstruct the exact same boards with new teak...where do you think I can find molded fiberglass fish boxes to drop into a cut out in the stern gunwale piece?

I have looked through the entire West Marine catalog..and they do not have what I need.
Any idea of who makes "custom made" fiberglass drop in boxes?
I really appreciate all the replies....

    Thanks,
    Al
