Hi, i just bought an old Banshee Mark II ski boat. The boat is in need of some TLC. The boat has a gelcoat that needs to be completely re-done. (Lost a layer) I am new to this and dont know exactly what to do. If you know any websites that sell the paint please tell.
    Thanks in advance.

Lost a layer ?? You dont normally loss a layer of gel coat as its a part of the glass surface ! Sounds like its been pained before it its coming off !! whats under the part where it came off ??
Post some pictures to clear up this as to gel coat or paint question Please :(!!

    help with gelcoat

Gelcoat is not a paint. It is a resin with pigment added to it.You add hardener and wax(called sanding aid )to so it will fire off.If you don't,it will remain sticky to the touch. You can regelcoat the boat yourself if you can handle a paint brush or roller and have a good orbital sander.Regelcoating a boat is more time and labor consuming than painting. The results are dramatically better than any paint job,and it will out last any paint job if done right.I have regelcoated the cabin and flybridge on a 40 foot Marine Trader trawler, including the deck after taking the teak deck off.Putting down a non-skid pattern was the hardest part. The hull is next.Patience, positive attitude and money and you can do it.
