Damn, I need to find more clients like this, I really do. I can save huge amounts of money, hired labor and my own personal efforts.

Someone had to convince the owner that they were "more then qualified" to do the design work. I know quite a few that have ridiculous amounts of money and all, without exception will need a "qualifier", if you don't have the necessary "credentials" to show. Clearly the owner(s) of this project have someone that has offered up some serious BS as the qualifier or credentials. Or it might be worse and it's the son or brother or best friend of the owner. I can hear it now, "honest uncle Jim, it's no big deal, I can design it".

but first you need to shed your Naval Architect/Design title. ;)

What really hurts is the thought of how much money these 'partners' spent on this. Most likely their life's savings. You only get one shot folks.

Then again, maybe we're all wrong and this whole thing will work out in the end.

It WILL work out in the end!

Another ***** will tow it away for free and realize the dream of his life.

When working on projects of this scale, things tend to get worked out eventually, though probably not what they would have hoped for in the beginning, I'm sure. There's just too much money involved and if mistakes are made, then lawyers are called, which pretty much insures that there will be an eventual end play to the game.

It'll be summer before we get a good idea what is really going to happen. I question the hull additions effectiveness at solving the yachts issues. I suspect that since the designer clearly wasn't qualified to work at this scale, there will be other, likely very major other concerns when they get her out on trials. Hopefully no one will drown.

Two questions. Isn't it illegal to be that ugly? Aren't you stretching something to say it's licensed for 175 people with only 70 lifevests on board?

And the lawyers will be called because lives will be lost. There are good men lying at the bottom of the Bering Sea because of modifications to fishing vessels which raised the CG too high. Hiring a pro can save lives

What would I be stretching in your opinion?

And, yes it should be illegal to make something that ugly, the "designer" should have been shot!

Just to lighten things up a tad (since seeing that monster sitting in the snow is so depressing) I thought I'd post up some folks getting by just fine without designers...

Nice one, Richard....just stereotype and slag off off a few million people....

By the way, the guy who designed the boat was NOT a teacher but an electrician.

This forum really needs moderation. There's just too much hate and stereotyping.

    Oh do´nt bother.
Whats a million people? Eat more ****, 18 billion flies ca´nt be wrong.

    Stereotype?

The idiotic guys paing the electrician to get nowhere are teachers!

And of course I agree, this Forum needs more moderation. All the world needs more regulations, laws, penalties, to get people like you safer in their endless ignorant behaviour.

    Teachers ... bäähh.. crap.
    Regards
    Richard
