So, at this point, how did this vessel pass the technical survey for the required certificates? Looks like the issues and faults here are much widely spread then I could have thought...

The pic in the boat's website shows it in water and it is being advertized as charter-ready...

To me, advertisement means I should listen/read it and do the opposite :p

I have seen many boats 'advertised' to be something, they are not. There is one 'best Asian superyacht builder' advertised also; as it turned out they are 'submarine builders' :D

According to the website, "there is simply no other yacht comparable to the Absolu 80 in the Montreal region.."

    That's probably true.....

its actually a pretty nice life raft, not going to hold 40 people but it is a nice raft.

Actually capacity/number of liferafts should be: enough to take all passengers/crew plus one spare liferaft.

40 people at an average weight of 200 each = 8000 lbs all standing on one side of the top deck. Hmmmm thats 129 cu/ft of displacement and how large were those sponsons again ? cause it barely floated without the sponsons. And then a wave?

I'd be really curious to read the evaluation by the Canadian agency that approved the vessel for 40 ppl

Don't know what are the weather conditions in Montreal harbor like... Do you have strong winds occuring there? That vessel is pretty tall for it's length... Lots of lateral wind drag and rolling moment.

Yes, they have quite strong winds at various times of the year (fall, especially). However, it is a medium size inland waterway without an outrageous fetch. It would develop a chop. No swells or ocean type waves. Also, not wide like the Great Lakes, which can develop a fatal "chop."
