We are not in Victoria, but FNQ, Cairns... :D :D :D

Paradise (here), is quite pleasant, This one is warm (34.8deg Celsius and 32% Humidity), at present, blue skys and a moderating breeze at present... Birds are singing, water is wet and the tide is out and the trees and grass is a fresh green and the hills an Australian hazy blue green...

    Hi Hoyt,
No answer from his landline and I cannot find his mobile number... I have bumped into several people know the area he lives (farms and farmlets) and have said they will seek him out... I am ready and prepared to go up there and help with the backlog of farm chores that must have acumulated in his absense... The feeling around, is that he is in hospital - - - and his wellbeing and welfare is often on my mind... Please all, continue to appeal to your preferred deity for his health and wellbeing...

I am moored near the roundabout off Reed Road near the exit into Harbour Drive, The bridge heading to Trinity Park is in plain sight some 2 boatlengths from me...

Living on a boat, at the present I am as well prepared as I can be, for any "disaster" that may arise, - - given that I need to refresh my fuel tanks, I have just under 500 litres, so to fill up need another 600 litres... work out a better way to store water

Then I need to find crew and a 'companion' to make the 480 mile jump from Cairns to Samarai Island, and also the visas and other costs to exit Australia as well as enter PNG...

To develop a sustainable livestyle will take lots of luck, determination and I feel will need the sale of my boat to finance some aspects of my determination...

    Hi West,
Yep, - The roundabout is the one, The little sandy patch between the 4 "Royal Palms" with the bows just on the "sandy" beach and an anchor off the stern to hold ne close in line with the second pontoon (That sailboat has apparently been there for several years - anchored fore and aft near max depth.midstream)... In the Google-Earth image of the roundabout the tide was out (about 0.5M - High tide goes up to almost 3 metres near full of new moon periods)... The other image seems quite old... as much of the sand has washed away...

You mean "natures roof and deck washing system" - yes... - - if you mean to capture potable water, - NO - as by the time the dirt and salt is washed off - the rain is stopped...

Those gutter systems are a myth as far as effective usefulness is concerned, unless you are really anal, pedantic and fanatical as regards this is shut until, that is open until - I would likely forget and destroy the water I have carefully stored by one incident of forgetting to open or close a valve, or test the water quality effectively...

My next acquisition is for a "Reverse Osmosis Watermaker"... That has a process that is quite clear and well defined...

    Oh WESTIE,
    I forgot,
Go to your local health food store and get some "cold pressed coconut oil" it is mild, a good health food and one of the medium chain fatty acids is effective at controlling the cold/flu virus - especially when taken regularly...

The oil should be a white sort of solid at temperatures below 24 deg C (75.2 deg F) and when gently warmed become clear and with a gentle coconut smell... It should not be "sterilised" or otherwise treated except from filtering through a coffee filter paper at no greater than 95 deg F to remove some of the bits of grated coconut...

    Hi frosty,
Dame Edna?, - How would I know? - not in my small circle of friends and acquaintences....

    Hi All,

Rallying to help, I had a phone call from Niel Bowchow 0414 189 970 on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland... He asked how I lost my rudder and did I need one of his spares to get moving in a hurry? The rudders that Niel Bowchow, made and is offering to help on my rudder broken problem are different and are part of a cassette designed to lift out of the water when something hard is hit - not suitable for my boat as my rudders are permanently down, protected by a pair of mini keels...

Never a finer man to build your boat - I gather he is down near Mooloolaba working at his trade - boatbuilding - I should have accepted his quote & offer to build - I would have been more than Au$100,000 in front on build cost alone... I have seen his work and products, and can only recommend him and in the long run, you will save by using a professional builder who is competent and skilled...

My rudder is being repaired/replaced by groper and I will supply the post from Pacific Composites I suppose as Niel strongly argues against using aluminium or any other tube as if it bends it will expand in the tube and jamb in place making steering near impossible...

    Hi Westie,
About a tablespoon a day ingested will keep the flu away during "colds season", and no need for that dubious "flu injection", as the other virus may be the one causing the infections...

There is quite a difference between the coconut oil extracted under high heat, and that super expensive, nice ( cold pressed ? ) white stuff ( when solidified). Another oil that is reputed to be health promoting is Red Palm Oil, made from the fruit of the oil palm, not the kernel.

A thorny question and have you seen the plantations yeuck....

    http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/cha...EDT&area=Au&model=CG&chartSubmit=Refresh View
I have been reviewing the weather at the above link and things look quite benign and favourable for the run north to Samarai... I need to check out visa, exit and entry costs and secure a crew for the 480 N mile passage - - All of which means "money" which is another delay on my departure
    - 600 litres of fuel =Au$900 to $1200
    - visas to PNG = Au$ ???
    - exit fees from Cairns =Au$ ???
    - Entry fees into PNG =Au$ ??? (passengers/crew meet their own costs charges)
    - Exit fees from PNG and re-entry costs to Australia

Pending works - complete the repair of the anchor winch - Au$ ???
    - - - have replacement rudder built and installed - -- - - - Au$ ???

The good thing is, - that Cairns is quite a pleasant place to wait for things to be ready... I am committed to stay and help Silver Raven get the backload of chores sorted on his farm...

This forecast suggests wait for a reliable window - as does that for wind speed & direction...
