Not going to Chandlery, going to electronics/hobbyist shop as technology knowledge is necessary... The schematic A is NOT the configuration I will use...

Dont over complicate KISS,-- one day youlle need to fix it, and I strongly suggest you make hand drawaing of wiring circuits for later use.
 
Yes I am still thinking and researching ALL options - not truly satisfied yet... I have 2 independent 12V batteries as start batteries for the motors... 10m further forward (wiring distance), I have 2 banks of 24V batteries... I was thinking of ways & neans to charge the 24V battery banks when there is NO sun but I am moving under power (an overnight passage)... Longest non stop is about 4 days at 6 knots... I need assured power for the autopilot systems, (gps-plotter & radar, hydraulic-pump, fluxgate-compass & pilot-controller) which is all 24V...

The cheapest so far is 2 x 1000W mains inverters, - to get the power near the batteries without too much line loss, and a pair of mains battery chargers - no switching as when either engine is started it charges the "house batteries" - or - one bank of the house batteries... Less than 2/3 of the honda 24V battery charger... That 20M electrical circuit is the "killer" - from one end of the boat to the other and back - - almost...
 
For a long journey like that I would take a 240 small 1 kw hand start gen. Iknow but it will be handy when you build your beach house and or anything you want. They are a god send on a boat --sell it to a farmer when your finished.

Cup of tea microvave, I would not have a boat without one.
 
I got 4000W 240VAC inverter now... getting power from my 24VDC battery banks....
 
Yeah but--an invertor need batteries so if you have no sun and your out cruising a back uop gen is the answer. They are so small and quite its nothing to keep.
 
Using the generating facility on each main engine... 90A at 12V each... When I am stopped I need very little to supply freezer and anchor light... 7 days without the sun, anchored at South Percy was no problem even electrical cooking and perpetual tea/coffee/soup making and microwave re-heating, toilet and water pumping, lighting and radar-watch,,, batteries always better than 90% charged... I could possibly run through the night but power to the chart-plotter-radar and autopilot is desirable aid to night vision where the waters are strewn with lots and lots of rocky-traps for the unwary...
 
Can you start your engines by hand. what if you took a wave an flooded the batteries, what if,-- what if. A gen is about 60 quid

Good advice, Frosty. Seriously.

Right up there with 'take a piece of rope.' No matter where I go or what I'm doing, I always have some handy -- along with a roll of toilet paper.:D
 
Why do you need toilet paper when you got rope?
 
Can't handle the scratch from the rope? - - - - I have a piece of rope - a whole roll, and a similar quantity in shorter pieces (50M x 4 with a 4000kg breaking strain) just coiled up ready for when I need it Plus all the other lengths set up for other specified/predetermined uses/functions, plus 4 anchors complete with 10m chain & 50M warps attached... All kept neat and tidy, ready for use...

Toilet paper? - what is wrong with washing ones backside? and not adding globs of paper-mashe into the oceans...

Start my engines? I have four methods of starting my engines - you say I need more? - How many ways can you start your engines?

I have had breaking waves of about 5 metres from the stern, rode them nicely, no broaching tendency, for a while achieving some 19 knots - NO water... bigger waves just not yet...

On CNO, I can carry 13 panels 800mm x 1600mm for 2275W, (has 8 panels = 1400W), nominal output for quiet living when at anchor in the tropics... My Nanni321SD engines burn about 3 litres/hour at 3000rpm and deliver around 10hp/11Kw at that speed (6 knots on one engine)... I feel more comfortable/secure with fixed blade propellers for long range efficiency and confined quarters manoeuvring...
 
Actually I strongly advize against toilet paper. In hot climes you will get an itchy arse that can develop into infections that are not funny. In the East toilet paper is never used , all it does it rubs it around and spread it thinly till you can see it.

One of the reasons Muslims eat with there right hand only, and think the westerners are disgusting and of low hygeneic standards, all toilets have was fascilities even if it is a hose pipe.

I always wash,--always,-- there is no need to abandon personal hygene just becaue you are on your own infact you will get rashes from hell.

Living in a hot coutry needs a little pre programming or you will get trouble.

To whom are you preaching?

Having been in the Tropics since 1964, - (Malaysia) and also in Phillipines briefly, - PNG most of my working life, - Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Australia's top half... - - I am well aware that water is for washing the body, alcoholic beverages are 'sterile', and suitable for drinking - toilet paper is a hand drying towel if anything, or, to pretend that it has more intrinsic value than most paper/cloth currencies...

Muslims are NOT the only ones who eat using only their right hand... When I am alone I prefer salt water, (as it is a better 'antiseptic'), to wash my *** etc, then use a suitable soap and fresh water to wash my hands...

Here is an interesting 7.5KW electric sail-drive option, anyone got an idea on the price in US$ ? - - apart from comments that it is too expensive... The attached brochure.catelogue has other interesting hybrid systems/components -

Its a toy far too small and the G box is tiny, you could make that. That looks like its been made by a company that makes sweet wrapping machines and wants another project.

There is only one way to drive a boat that goes to sea.
