Hi Bajan, yes, the broken steering cable at 10:30 at night was a bit of scary movies. But we handled it and it's all put back together now and operating fine. I designed Corroboree to Lloyd's Rules for Wood Yachts, and she certainly stood up to the task of 30,000+ miles around the world. She is also a very comfortable liveaboard boat. We are endeavoring to find a broker who can list the boat for us by the time we reach Miami.
    Cheers,
    Eric

Eric have you researched the tax aspects of selling the boat in Grenada? I have no idea what they may be. There might be import duties on top of sales taxes. Something to look into.

I really don't want to consider that. I would likely have to import the boat into Grenada first and pay duties on that before making a sale. That's how it is done in Australia. The duties there are quite expensive and there is a fair bit of official red tape to go through. Plus, the number of potential buyers is far fewer here in the Caribbean than up in the US. In the US, potential buyers would be much more readily able to visit the boat rather than jumping on a plane down to Grenada. Transportation to a new home would be easier also.

We are not selling this as a circumnavigation boat, that is, to go around again, even though having been around once attests to her pedigree and structural soundness. This is a great liveaboaard boat for more protected waters, for which she was originally designed. Our chances of a quick and successful sale are much greater back in the US than down here.

I am sure that the potential buyers will be queuing up to look at Corroboree as soon as you arrive in Florida, even without a broker - word travels fast on the sailing grapevine. :)

That is certainly what we hope, although I have had zero response so far. We'll see.

I suppose you don't know this, but any old 35' wood boat is almost impossible to insure in Florida. A composite boat, 34.9' is a different animal, even if you can't do anything about the age.

I suggest you move the boat north, empty it of all personal possessions, clean and wax inside out then hire a professional photographer for the advertising images.

    Hi Chuck,
Thanks for posting. We finished our circumnavigation when we arrived in Grenada on 5 May 2023. We stayed there two weeks, then headed up to St. John in the USVI where we have now re-entered the US. We'll be here until early next week and then we'll head to Florida, about 1,300 miles further on. Should be in Miami in the middle of June.

On the move again. Back to Florida. Should be there in a 4 to 5 days unless they stop along the way.

We are moored for a few months here in Lake Boca Raton, FL. In the first week we started decommissioning Corroboree from her offshore passages and began cleaning her up and making some repairs. We even bought a car.

    NOTICE--PRICE REDUCED ON CORROBOREE--$59,000

We have moved Corroboree to Brunswick Landing Marina in Brunswick, GA. This is a very friendly marina with lots of cruisers and liveaboards. While in Florida and arranging new insurance, we had a new C&V marine survey done which came back with a market value of $61,500 at above average condition. We are eager to pass Corroboree onto a new owner, so we have lowered the asking price to US$59,000. We have also listed her on WoodenBoat Magazine's classifieds page: CORROBOREE, 35' Sloop, $59,000 | Wooden Boat https://www.woodenboat.com/boats-for-sale/corroboree-35-sloop-59000.

A revised spec sheet and the new survey are available on request.

    Cheers from Georgia!

    Eric

    UPDATE: New video available!
We have made a new video to better describe Corroboree and have posted it on YouTube: .

Also, we are raising the price back up to $64,900 to reflect some of the repairs/upgrades that came about from the marine survey. Still looking to sell Corroboree to a deserving owner. All inquiries welcome.

    Cheers, Eric

Corroboree is sold! We'll be leaving her in Brunswick, GA, with her new owner by the end of this month, November 2024.

    On to new adventures!
