    who needs to be effcient when easier made multi sails do the job ...

    I seriously doubt that these configurations would work. Other than the upwind sail all of the rest will be blanketed by the others, causing huge drops in efficiency, as you add more and more they probably add more drag that they do propulsion.

    There are some cats that are using twin side by side rigs, but 1)they are still pretty experimental, 2) are only found on boats where the masts are separated by a significant portion of their height 3) often remove one or more sails from the system 4) do no offer twice the performance of a single rig the same size.

    Wow, I never realised that NASA, NACA, all the world's aerodynamicists, all the physicists, all the yacht and dinghy and cat designers, all the sailmakers. hang-glider manufacturers and everyone else were doing it wrong! :) Even the guys who designed the TT bike in the pics are doing it wrong, too!
