That is one big croc, or 400 pairs of shoes, if you like. American croc only grows to about 20 feet long, smaller in South Florida.

I took this photo of the notice on the changing room door at a sailing club at Harare. Maybe it was a good thing I didn't see it until AFTER racing a borrowed Laser (fortunately I didn't capsize)

They have "please do not feed the animals" signs up at out local zoo, but that notice has more impact, I think.

Hmmm. we have alot of crock here from local politicians and are sometimes referred to as sharks....

anyway, what I'm picking up here is that if you overpower a sailing cat and go blasting you might explode, what happens if you have a sail on a more power designed cat? I realize it won't sail well, that's in another forum too, motorsailors are not efficient. Would a mizzen work on a power cat or any sail?

I have always played with idea of cutting tubes on my 16' hobie cat making it narrower, putting deck on it, a seat and an outboard. Wonder how fast it would go before it would do something weird.

You get a poor motor cat and a poor sailer. Both is going to be frustrating.
It is beter to have a good power or a good sailer, however a sailer with outboards makes imo more sense than a motor cat with sails unless the sails are for emergencies only.

The drawback of a sailer is the mast, sails and rigging that clutters things up, where a motor only is 'clean'. You can never the less power the sailer good enough with motors, and nothing will explode :D

Sailing hulls wants a clean entry and exit from the hull through water, where the power boats are more of a brutal push it throuh by force kind of thing.

You wouldn't say that if your butt was 4" below the waterline when a power boat passed by upwind. The smell clings to the surface for several minutes ... but then again, I may be biassed!

Awww, you know what I mean. I hate bloody fuel motors as much as anyone else, but gaff the gov about that. There are clean as in clean clean alternative energy sources we can use, but these are free and the gov then lose their beeg income. No developed country wants us to use free energy.
