Has any one tried a single rudder forward, maby a long shallow section of the keel that moves, but not so far forward that it loses its bite. How would it perform? What would be the obstacles? Any ideas?

I think broaching would be a big concern.

It appears from early photos of Chris Crafts that some of the boats had a forward rudder.
