When I read in plans that a tri's amas are sized at 150%, does that they displace 150% of the weight of the boat (empty), total planned loaded displacement or some number indicating total force of the rig healing the boat? There are several hundreds of pounds between these different interpretations.

I've always understood it to mean that the total buoyancy of the ama is equal to 1.5 times the designed sailing weight of the boat(for 150%).
