Model Wood Ships Question

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a model wood ship and have hit a snag. I’m using balsa wood for the hull and some hardwood for the details, but I’m unsure about the best techniques for shaping and assembling the pieces of my model wood ships.

What are the best tools to use for cutting and sanding the wood? Also, any tips on sealing the wood before painting would be greatly appreciated! I’ve seen some models online that look stunning, and I’d love to achieve a similar finish. Looking forward to your advice and experiences!

Hint that for christmas you'd like a Dremel rotary tool and accessories, and some assorted scalpels. Sealing the wood depends on what type of paint you will use for the final colours. You don't want wrinkles in top coats from bad paint reactions. Choose a brand / type with the colours you want, then read their recommendations as to undercoats or other preps.
