@montero . . . not sure why the person in the video you posted is drilling out the retainer nut. There are special tools for taking apart the outdrives. Perhaps the nut (ring retainer) was seized in the casing.
 
Yes it was impossible to unscrew seized . If they stay in the ocean most of time it's no surprise galvanic corrosion.
 
Yup, I apply marine grease to all the threads, etc. It seems to work. Stuff comes apart when you need it to . . .
 
I think there is some confusion about closed cooling systems. There are two. One includes the exhaust manifolds and may require a bigger volume pump than the lower unit has. The other only cools the block and the standard pump is adequate.
