staying afloat

    last week a boat was sunk up to its freeboard in the marina wich started me worrying again.
    without reading manuals i ask if forexample a freezing plate or leaking rubber is really all that keeps sterndrives afloat
    with no waterlock at all in the stern, thats a scary thought :eek:
