Meade Gougeon passes away.

Multihull and epoxy boatbuilding pioneer Meade Gougeon has passed away after a long fight with cancer. It's hard to imagine the impact that the West products that he brought to market along with his late brother Jan brought to boatbuilding. In addition the extremely interesting and innovative multihulls that they built had an ongoing impact in the racing and cruising scene.

I talked with him in his shop while I was there a year or so ago, very nice guy.

He'd been struggling for a while now, but he was tough and determined. I met him years ago at a WoodenBoat event (late 80's, maybe early 90's) and he was a hoot. His industry presence will carry on, though he'll be sorely missed.
