What do you recommend for a resistance model of a double ended vessel which i can do analytically and also validate using maxsurf as this is the only program available at university. Please dont forget this is a double ended vessel hence basic no stern. Thank you and i appreciate

I'm sorry, but I don't know of any specific method for double-ended vessels, but the results with Holtrop should be good enough.
To validate your manual calculations, you could use the attached spreadsheet. Its results have been compared with various completed projects.

I have been trying to make use of your excel sheet however i am getting this error when leaving out stern prop section, transversal bow thruster section and appandeges resistance section as could be seendown below. If possible i would appriciate it if you could carry out the holtrop and mennenn method using the particulars i will be giving you whilst keeping in minid that this is a double ended vessel. Thank you a lot. upload_2025-9-26_7-37-29.png

Try to fill in the data. I know the ship doesn't have a stern, I'm very aware of that, but try to "trick" the program and tell it that it has, for example, a "Gondola sgtern" (the differences between one stern and the other aren't very great).
The ship does have propellers (I suppose): please indicate how many, their rpm, diameters....
A stern thruster? If, as I suppose, there aren't any, enter zero (0) in the corresponding box.
The LCB cannot be equal to zero. Please check that information.
Let's see if, by filling in all the data correctly, the program will give an answer.
    Good luck!
