I have been using Simspar software which is a huge advance on Larrs and Eliassons approach. It allows you to simulate worst case situations as well as optimum ones, tune your rig scientifically, and uses FEA for the rig components. I would say it is the best on the market however to my knowledge it is the only dedicated spar programme. No doubt the likes of Hall and Southern Spars have their own programmes but they are keeping them to themselves.
Great work by Crain and I can add they are very supportive.

There is a free trial download which gives you a good idea of the capabilities. Aside from rig design it would be a useful tuning tool for anyone with a performance rig. Takes the guesswork and rule of thumb out.
