I am in need of help in identifying a shallow draft magnesium boat. My grandfather had it in Indiana, they gave it to my father who gave it to me. I know it's at least 60 yrs old. There is no hull plate. I did some research and found that Dupont made a similar looking boat called a tank boat that was used on farms. But, this is not one of them. Can anyone out there help me id this boat?

I thought it was just aluminum but my aunt recalls gramps saying it was made of magnesium. It's super light, one person can carry it but then again if it was made of aluminum it'd be light too. There is no welding on the boat. This boat was put together using only rivets.

Could always take a blow torch to a corner of it and see what happens!

An alloy no doubt. And don't worry, aluminium burns fiercely when it gets a go on.

I'll give it a try. Though it's still not getting me any closer to finding out who made it
