Copper-clad Wooden Rudder Maintenance

    Hi all,

    The immersed part of the solid oak barn door rudder on my old Dutch sailing barge has a thin copper cladding that collects barnacles like nobody's business.

    I managed to get rid of the barnacles with a pressure wash followed by a blade scraping, but they left pock marks in the copper that I'm pretty sure will only invite a more aggressive barnacle build-ups in the future.

    Is there a way of coating copper cladding with some sort of anti-fouling that I don't know about?
