Proxemics

Anyone know some studies relative proxemics in yacht design.

Don't know of any studies but my experience is that small boats are cramped and large boats are less cramped, compared to houses.

I think proxemics takes into consideration the cultural differences. Americans are going to want a lot more personal space.

Example; Low ceilings over time will drive you a little crazy, even standard eight foot high ceiling is too low for extended peroids of time. Lighting, natural lighting is a huge factor not to be underestimated. You might find information through a large skylight maker for that last one. As an Architect (land lover type) there is a lot to this topic, some of the best information out there may be in the architecture section not the psychology section.

Can you give us a clue of what is exacly what you want to discuss?

 

I'm not sure what happened to the guy, but I'd have to say that there is a difference between loading up as many people as you can on a boat till it sinks, and loading up just enough people for a good party where you can actually bump into a bikini clad babe and still claim it was an accident.
