    Try also http://www.kanteryachts.com/

I'm sure there are others as well. Check with yacht designers Steve Killing (associated with Proteus Engineering), Bruce Kirby, or Rob Ball of Edson Steering.

East Isle Marine in Georgetown PEI is a shipyard that normally does big stuff (government, commercial, etc.) but is a specialist in aluminum construction and have on senior staff Mr. James McConnell, who built ally yachts in Ontario as McConnell Yachts, then built the America's Cup boat True North in a partnership with Bob Crockett at Crockett-McConnel Inc. in Nova Scotia. With him running the show, I'm certain EIM has the capabilities to undertake your project.

Looks like there are some good leads here, Erik. Allow me to also note that there are some top notch hydro labs in Canada, most notably IMD. People there might be able to give you additional guidance. See http://wwwvl.naoe.ish.dtu.dk/Universities.htm for links.

You might also ask Kevin Milne at http://www.marsmetal.com/

I'd love to hear more as your project develops!

    Sail Tech Yachts

I saw a segment on TV, where they use one long, flat, developed sheet of aluminium on each side of the hull. They then pulled the sheets into shape over a wooden set of hull sections and welded the sheets together. Using this method, they needed minimum fairing and welding to create a round bilge hull and said they could build a 45ft hull, deck and bulkheads in 3days and at 40% less than a normal aluminium built boat (Don't quote me on these exact figures.).
I think they were in Vancover.

    Aluminum Boatbuilding

I build custom boats in aluminum to a very high standard. My latest project was a 40 ' displacement powerboat. I have produced many excellent vessels both power and sail. Pictures are available. The boats I build are very fair and require a minimum of fairing material to achieve a high standard of finish. This can be a big problem with many builders, I have developed a system of manufacture that requires patience and knowledge but results in a superior product. Please e-mail to discuss your requirements.

    boat builders

Hi there I'm a aluminum boat designer here on the west coast. There are quite a few aluminum boat builders out here, most are stuck in the grove there in ie. power boats. There is a small company who seem to be willing to do sail or any thing else. I have done some drawing for them they are ironwoodboats.com they are located in the Lower main land BC. I'm not sure you want to go this far a feald to get you boat done but who knows.

    alloy boats yachts

    developed shapes maybe
you pull any shape into a alloy sheet even slightly compound without forming by wheels or rolls and when you hit it with the welder it.ll collapse in the immediate weld area because of the released tension
there are no shortcuts EVER in boatbuilding Yes there are quicker methods which one learns in years of hands on
Writing a book on the practical side of hands on Alloy boatbuilding at the moment

    short cuts, forget them

and it will look like a pig for sure, it costs just as much to finish a pig as to finish a well designed yacht with beautiful flowing lines
It takes me 160 man hours more to plate a boat with 40 stretched and wheeled [plates than it would take me to build a double chine yacht
see my alloy work in the photo gallery
