    The C-cat only really has about 7 rules:

    1. Must be a Catamaran symetrical about the center line of the boat
    2. not more than 25' long
    3. Not more than 14' wide (Yes Doug this includes the foils)
    4. The rudder may hang behind the 25' line, within reason
    5. Two crew are allowed and required, not 1, not 3 but 2
    6. Both crew may trapeze but they both must have some part of their body touching the hull when they do
    7. You must have the C on your sail / wing etc.
    8. Not more than 300 sq ft of "Sail area". And no you don't count each side of the wing as area.

    There are a few pages of measurement directions mostly about how to measure the wings, if that's what you choose to use.

    There are no weight restrictions, no restrictions on materials or the number of foils you use or how you use them or how they work, as long as they fit in the box.

    For this year's event we have agreed on a few details, 1. you run what you brung, so you measure in one set of gear, and that's what you sail with, you cannot have light air boards and heavy air boards for example. you can replace something if you have a major breakage. 2. when you pull foils up and down etc, they have to remain inside the beam of the boat, they cannot go outside the 14' wide box when being deployed or retracted. Likewise rudder elevators etc, have to stay inside the beam restriction when rotated fully

    So this is the top end of our rudder post, yep we can adjust rudder pitch angle on the fly on FYH.

    You mean rudder foil pitch angle, right? So easy to derive more than one meaning-just trying to clarify for the noble readers....

    Yeah well they are all connected, pitch means fore and aft, yaw would be the rotation induced by the tiller.

    So when I say pitch angle, sure I mean the angle of the foil. but when you are doing 25 knots down the back of a wave you don't spend a long time dicking around with Semantics. It's "put some rudder lift on" or "Head up 5 degrees".

    In a thread where foils are getting beaten to death as a topic, it's self evident what I am talking about.

    Good video!

    Cammas says that on this 2nd outing they'd installed lifting rudders and a 'flying foil' on the one (starboard) side, quickly found it a stable set up in spite of the chop, and attained up to 25 knots speed. Then he rattles off something about the transitions to flying which I didn't get, other than that 'it's a different world' when flying.

    The ease with which the wing is trimmed (1min 20 secs) is delightful to watch.
