Liminaris - From Rust to Renewal

    Liminaris, an old steel ship from 1923, is about to embark on a new journey - from rust to renewal. Our goal is to restore the hull and transform the ship into a sustainable puppet theater on water. With the help of solar energy and hydrogen fuel cells, Liminaris will be completely self-sufficient and leave a minimal carbon footprint. We're seeking partnerships and funding to equip the boat and bring our vision to life. Join our voyage towards a greener future!

    Any help, counsel, ideas are more then welcome.
    Starting wit hull repair!

    Your first step is to have the boat surveyed. Based on that a work plan can be designed. I see that there is a general description of the proposed project. However, reducing the plate thickness may not be a good idea. Also, welding a riveted hull creates structural problems that need to be address as a structural modification.

    I'd watch the early sailing yaba early videos. The resurrected a train wreck of a boat with little to no meaningful history and crowd sourced through really good videos enough money to restore the boat.

    It's possible they timed it well with the covid money that flowed globally. But it seems folks are able with a strong enough narrative and quality enough editing finances can be found.

    All the metal technical stuff is pretty standard just a bit older. Iron is a pain, spent a year on a riveted 1913 built boat now near 20 years ago. Took a bit more in shipyard matching materials and doing repairs but it's minor compared to funding a project like this.

    I'd lean into the green aspect, even if it doesn't worke the last decade has proven there is almost limitless money in the hope it might work.

    Yes been done twice already, I have a 3d model with the ultrasound mesurements on it, my plan was to send the link to anybody interested and get counsel.

    We are not planning to reduce the thickness. We will stick with a minimum of 4 mm and use 5mm plates when replacing

    If any of you would like to further help, I would thend you a 3d model of the hull and the UV sounding.... so you can have a better idea of the situaton
