    Go buy this one man sub on ebay right now, use it in good health, and then decide if you want to move up . . . er, down to the upside down sunken airplane.

    There are also submarines with neutral or slightly positive flotation designed to be towed by a vessel. They are a pretty good compromise and the tow cable can also have power, data, etc.
