I am currently designing a small fishing craft no longer than 18 ft. for inland lakes and rivers. I am wondering if there are any industry standards or government regulations that would apply. For instance like a boat with an enclosed gas tank needs a fire extinguisher. I would also like to know about trailers mainly what is the greatest, road legal, width allowed. Another area I am unsure about is drag and the best ways, materials, or designs to reduce it. I would also be happy to receive any rules of thumb that may pertain to designing a boat since I am a first timer. Another thing I would like to know is if anyone knows of any other companies that produce a product like that of CraigCat.

Any information is appreciated especially websites

    Thank You
