Launch Design

Does anyone have any idea where to find plans for a launch? She must carry about 20 people and be USCG certified.

Far cheaper to purchase than build.Look for a Navy 28 ft laumnch , should run about $5000 running.

Conversion to USCG is EZ at the hull is the required Fire Retarding resin, but 20 is a lot of folks for the stability test.

The 40ft Utility would be better choice and easier to get legal. You will need a license to drive this, 6 pack joke license wont do.

ASK USCG for a copy of Subchapter T , all the rules.

Duffy makes boat kits that would work too. However, to comply with subchapter T, you jave to have it inspected and have stability calculations. With a standard design, some of those things will already be available.

 

I'm asking because we have been asked to build a launch for a local marina and just trying to educate ourselves. As for USCG cert. we have built boats for charter and have gone through the process and actually going through it now with a Kurt Hughes cat... of course, that boat has had all the calcs done already.
The client is familiar with Crosby's and Old Port's and is hoping we can come up with something borrowing from those two.

You might be able to request a design from the Navy - ask your Congressman.
