    Even though this is an old thread, you bring up the important issue of energy density. However, you need to state whether the density is related to volume, weight, temperature range, etc., or a combination. For example, AGM batteries are competitive or superior by volume, cost, and temperature range.

    Good point, I should have been clearer. I was mainly thinking of energy density by weight, but I agree it depends on the use case. On a boat, volume, cost, temperature range, simplicity, and even ballast value can matter just as much.

    And thanks for pointing out that Chris has not been active for a while. I was mostly curious about the long-term real-world experience with that 72V lead-acid setup.
