"Black" ? You need a workshop manual. Might be hard to get at TI though.

Again, a workshop manual is a must. But when you depress that lever after it starts, it should return to idle. Raising that lever to start is normal, once it starts, it is returned to the down position,

You do need a manual. They are all black. Is it carburated or fuel injected?

Has the motor been sitting without running?

Sounds like the pilot/idle jets are clogged.
Most of the time this means disassemble each carb and clean out the tiny pilot jet with a small diameter piece of wire or brush bristle. Might even have to remove them for cleaning. Be very patient and careful, carb parts are delicate and easy to damage.

Before touching the mixture screws, you need to do the link and sync. Otherwise, they will not work well.

Why do you say that. Johno's can be green. White or black.
