So I finally got the boat I always wanted. 23' sled. But!

One boat cant do it all. I cant use it in the river here close to home. Too skinny of water in summer. So, I'm looking for a smaller boat that I can put an OB pump on.

I was looking on Craigslist and saw these. Looks cool but prop says 18" draw. That's way too deep. Can a cat run a pump or would it be too turbulent between the toons?

    Thanks, Chris

the 18" is probably for the outboard. Jet no better, probably suck air.
for minimum draft, fit an aircraft engine/prop.. like an airboat

Can a cat run a pump? Yes

A craig cat is more like two surfboards than anything else.

Thank you. I was looking at the Craigcat as an idea. I hadn't seen one and the website doesn't really give much detail. I found one on Craigslist locally and it gave me an idea.

Not sure about the depth there. Here an OB jet can run in less than 6".

Question becomes how often does it have to run in 6" and whats the bottom like? Mud or sand with an occasional shallow spot of 6" should be no problem for a craig cat with a jet O/B.

If the bottom is hard, have your wallet out.

Down in the Keys and here in Biscayne Bay there are plenty of flats boats running very shallow, in Louisiana and Texas they have a different version of shallow craft. Some of the tunnel hull flats boats can run in wet grass at 40knots, but not for long.

The hulls of a craig cat draw inches, the drive is the limiting factor and set up right can tolerate 6" of sand or mud for short periods.

For real shallow running get the boat with the dog in the picture

I really wish the picture with the dog was bigger, is that a German Shepard?
