I have 4 , 30 gallon a day , ethanol stills waiting for me to figure out how the replace the no longer available control valves with a Ada fruit micro controller and some MOSFETS running the electric cooling pumps and getting temperature signals from some neat digital TI LM135 series temperature sensors I am just learning to code in circuit python now , I will get there eventually . Then I will be able to produce 120 gallons of ethanol fuel every 24 hours ... theoretically .
Why does it seem that there is a "can't do attitude" here ?
A loaded container is 40 tones. Therefore, at 6HP per ton you need 240 HP. However, those calculation assume a hull of normal shape, which a container is not; it is shaped like a brick. A canoe will not be able to float with the load of a large engine/transmission, enough fuel and all the living arrangements you propose. Further, tugs need to be heavily built to sustain all the impacts and stresses usual on the job.
...remember a 9 1/2'' jet will be more efficient than a 9 1/2" prop on a out board , it might be more like a 11" prop . and this is not a every day thing.
Jet propulsion is simply wrong for pushing cargo around at relatively slow speeds. The only potentially practical method would be.... lets look around at marine transport........AH! a big slow rotating propeller like virtually all the cargo ships on the ocean!! Got to that answer pretty easily, with no need for engineering knowledge. The desire for jet propulsion is simply absurd here, has no technical basis, and solid proof of this is all around any ocean transport, so why do you want jet???
