interesting, looks like PWC can be launched at sea.

any idea of the outriggers are for high speed running or mostly for stablity for extenda-deck?

Dont know much about the "toy " . I understand that its a Mega yacht tender and that the fold out sides give more watersports space on deck and act as a trimaran for stability when the boat is at rest. Evidently the boat has 1000 plus hp . Its narrow on a beam length ratio and very fast. The drop down transom with jet ski is interesting. That toy must cost several million dollars.

Hi Michael. The boat with extendible outriggers is called "Wider", and is the first model of the new boatyard founded by the ex-founder and ex-CEO of Pershing Yachts, Mr. Tilli Antonelli: http://www.wider-yachts.com/ The design is by Fulvio Simoni, the brilliant designer of Pershing yachts.

The outriggers stay retracted inside the hull during navigation. Once at anchor, they can be extended to nearly double the deck area. It appears to be a really innovative and cool answer to the needs of persons who are into the Med-style boating, where boats sit in the marinas overnight and are used during the summer for day-long trips between islands, bays and beaches. Once at anchor, the open-deck area is valuable, as the life on board consists of sunbathing, swimming, sipping a drink or two and having fun in company untill the sunset. Then the anchor is pulled up, the outriggers are retracted and the boat goes back to the marina. It does have a small cabin in the bow area, for those who wish to sleep on board or stay in that bay till the next day.

It is obviously not a high-performance boat, because it's design is threaded with compromises - as any hybrid-type or multi-purpose boat is. But it is extremely bold and imo clever attempt to interpret the market demand and to carve a very particular niche on the world of boating.

Personally, I find the idea brilliant. :)

    Cheers

Hopefully whoever is in charge of the boat will be onboard this week. Id like to ask many questions. For instance...does it all work ? That boat is very highly detailed.

For sure the outriggers mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems will require a lots of regular maintainance. Hopefully the owner understands that.
