I've dealt with overseas (China) sail makers and the plans have to be very specific, with everything "called out" out you'll get some pretty weird stuff. I learned this the hard way. Sewing is one thing, but knowing how much round to put in a luff on a freestanding rig is a whole different thing, so either work with a well established sail maker or have plans that are very complete.

    Hi Paul,
I tried with China some time ago but sofar I recall they need large quantities otherwise it's expensive! import duties have also to be added .
I'm trying to get in touch with a sail designer but most probabily he might run his own sail manufacturing business. I think this is the only way

I haven't gotten around to your email yet, but basically, where you are and what you plan will require a hands on and detail filled approach. I think you already know this. A sailmaker is your best option for panel layouts, etc. The way you can tell if they are a real sailmaker is if they ask how heavy the boat is. If not, you'll get whatever he's used to making, without regard to the boat(s) you're intending the build, which isn't good. A real sailmaker will want plans and specifications about the boat's hydro's and stability.

    Hi Paul,
Yes, that's what is in the back of my mind.
Once I'll be at that stage I suppose I may have to come back to you.
Definitely I'll need a collaboration with a (small) sailmaker.
First I'll be pretty much involved with some headaches to resolve to settle down the business which may take some time.
