Maldives Builds First-Of-Its Kind Floating Island City To Mitigate Climate Change
    • The Maldives is one of 48 developing nations most threatened by the global climate emergency
    • King tides and severe storms can wash over parts of their habitable land
    • Dutch Docklands has designed a first-of-its kind floating island city
    • It will feature thousands of waterfront residences and services floating along a flexible, functional grid across a 200-hectare lagoon
    • Construction is due to start in 2022 and be completed over the next five years

Wrong. The task of the federal government is to protect our borders and our freedoms, nothing more
The fed only has those powers delegated to it by the states, nothing more..
Interference with our freedoms and lives is over-reach and power grab.
This is the fundamental philosophical faceoff with zero compromise.
What has been delegated can be undelegated. A delegation doesn't own the power lent to it, it's a loan.
Only the states legislatures can modify the constitution and that includes modifying the federal government. It needs serious curtailment! A balanced budget amendment, term limits, and penalties for violating the constitution or attempting to, amendments are desperately needed. When the bill of rights says congress shall pass no law abriging or interfering with rights, an attempt to pass an illegal law, a forbidden law, a shall mot pass law,, needs severe penalties with teeth applied to those traitorous congress persons! They lied under oath when they swore to uphold, defend, and support the Constitution!

It can be plausibly argued that our freedoms are being threatened by Climate Change, and thus under the perview of the Federal Government.

Wrong. Aren't you paying attention? The conservative states are giving the current administration the finger!!! We are headed for disaster, a breakup! I love the USA, shed blood for it. I don't want it torn apart but won't tolerate it becoming marxist! Obvious, we can not live in harmony with marxists. They want it all. All or nothing, I say give them nothing. Evict them, even if USA sadly has a few fewer states afterwards.

I hope that won't happen, but frankly, I'm more worried about the civil unrest that could happen if large areas become uninhabitable and we have massive climate migration. Or if one region has multiple years of scorching weather and decides to unilaterally take geo-engineering into their own hands such as injecting sulfate particles into the atmosphere.

Human-induced global heating ‘causes over a third of heat deaths’
    • More than a third of all heat-related deaths around the world between 1991 and 2018 can be attributed to human-induced global heating
    • The largest number of climate change-induced contributions were in southern and western Asia, south-east Asia, and Central and South America
    • There was not enough empirical data from large parts of Africa and south Asia to include those areas
    • This data suggests the health effects of rapid warming are already being felt even at these relatively early stages of potential catastrophic changes in climate
The study was published in the journal Nature Climate Change

Civil unrest happens when propagandists stir people up and paint somebody else as a target and scapegoat for their problems.

How Earth’s Climate Changes Naturally (and Why Things Are Different Now)
    [Just an interesting article]
    Solar Cycles
Magnitude: 0.1 to 0.3 degrees Celsius of cooling
Time frame: 30- to 160-year downturns in solar activity separated by centuries

    Volcanic Sulfur
Magnitude: Approximately 0.6 to 2 degrees Celsius of cooling
Time frame: 1 to 20 years

    Short-Term Climate Fluctuations
Magnitude: Up to 0.15 degrees Celsius
Time frame: 2 to 7 years

    Orbital Wobbles
Magnitude: Approximately 6 degrees Celsius in the last 100,000-year cycle; varies through geological time
Time frame: Regular, overlapping cycles of 23,000, 41,000, 100,000, 405,000 and 2,400,000 years

    Faint Young Sun
    Magnitude: No net temperature effect
    Time frame: Constant

Carbon Dioxide and the Weathering Thermostat
    Magnitude: Counteracts other changes
Time frame: 100,000 years or longer

    Plate Tectonics
Magnitude: Roughly 30 degrees Celsius over the past 500 million years
    Time frame: Millions of years

    Asteroid Impacts
Magnitude: Approximately 20 degrees Celsius of cooling followed by 5 degrees Celsius of warming (Chicxulub)
Time frame: Centuries of cooling, 100,000 years of warming (Chicxulub)

    Evolutionary Changes
Magnitude: Depends on event; about 5 degrees Celsius cooling in late Ordovician (445 million years ago)
    Time frame: Millions of years

    Large Igneous Provinces
Magnitude: Around 3 to 9 degrees Celsius of warming
Time frame: Hundreds of thousands of years

I don't think you should have to ask what my point here is, but if you need to, I feel the first report is irresponsible public reporting to drive a political point that has nothing to do with a building's collapse or climate change. This is doomsday preaching at its worst.

For general news I find that those sources that are in the upper middle section of the chart below are the most reliable. They are the least politically biased and have the highest journalistic standards.

Some of the better news sources include:
    AP
    UPI
    Reuters
    New York Times
    Washington Post
    Wall Street Journal

Those strongly biased to the Left, which I generally avoid:
    Crooks and Liars
    Daily Kos
    Counter Punch
    Occupy Democrats

Those strongly biased to the Right, which I generally avoid:
Fox News (note that TV version is worst than web version)
    One America News Network (OANN)
    Breitbart News
    InfoWars

What it will take to achieve affordable carbon removal
    • Two companies are designing direct-air-capture plants to yearly bury 1 million tons of CO2 beneath the floor of the North Sea
    • The sequestered climate pollution will be sold as carbon credits
    • Climate researchers say the world may need to remove billions of tons of carbon dioxide annually
    • The critical and unanswered question is how much direct air capture will cost
    • The companies have a target cost of between $94 and $232 per ton
    • $100 per ton is essentially the point of economic viability, as large US customers generally pay $65 to $110 for carbon dioxide used for commercial purposes
    • One study estimates that the direct-air-capture industry will need to grow by a factor of a little more than 300 in order to achieve costs of $100 a ton

Your bias chart was undoubtedly compiled by somebody with a strong bias to the radical left. Cnn and MSNBC are way left. to point out just two. NYTimes is not a middle roader either.

^ I'll second the above post #2277, many, (most?,) of the networks that show on the chart as being somewhat "centrist" are little more than Pravda for the left.

I've seen this chart before. It was a biased chart then and it's a biased chart now. Capital B, capital S.
