This boat was basically given to me with trailer and Merc 85hp outboard. I am new to boats and would like to know what I have and all the info I can find on it. I would also like to know where I can get parts. I will also post some pics of the motor when I take them, I will need to know what it is because the bottom end needs parts as well. Any help would be great. There is a tag on the boat with some info..... #240626 Anchor IND. 1585lb load Model: Charger, it measures about 15ft long, fiberglass.

Some times they put the manufactures name or some
    useful info there.

Ah got it, I looked all over and could not find anything else. I would like to find a tarp for it because the hull has button snaps on it and would like to get a new trim piece that holds the top and bottom hull pcs together. I would also like to know the year of the boat, I was told it was in the 70s....

It should have a HIN assigned to it by the locality that issued it's title. The title would have the manufacture, possibly the model and typically the year.

If the boat was built after the fall of 1973 it would have a HIN stamped into the upper right hand corner of the transom when viewed from astern. If no HIN is present then it's probably built prior to 1973 and/or not intended for import into the USA. Since it's hull number suggest it was built in the USA, then a HIN should be present on '74 and later models. Pre '74 craft are pretty much a crap shoot unless you can find manufacture records (usually very difficult) or it was a major manufacture that is still in business or was bought by one, that still does business.

Do a title search on the registration numbers, which may require the help of a legal aide or paralegal.

    Par:

Just for information, Arkansas does not track boats or boat
trailers. There are no titles issued for either here. Trailer
tags are $45 one time for ever. Boats are every three
years with a motor, no motor, $7 one time fee.

If your boat is stolen, you have to provide the numbers.

    Strange but true!

Again, look for a HIN on the right side of the transom, particularly if it's a GT-150. The first three digits will tell you who built it and the remaining numbers will be informative too.
