    Hi!

I'm new to freeship and I have been designing a hull for the last 3 weeks now and thinking about continue modelling the rest of my boat in Icem surf . Is this possible and if it is, what file format should be used??? I actually tried igs format but did'nt work. Any suggestions about this???

    What formats does icem accept?

It accepts iges, which I regularly do from other programs like Studiotools. But it also accepts db, icem db, vda/fs ascii part, edf, scan, proE, 3dpaint, raw, cdrs, stl, autoform and domain. I can't for some reason import with iges and just wondered if I can export a file with maybe just the curves and points. According to freeship it can export curves but in DXF format which I believe Icem Surf do not accept...

Freeship creates iges files. If the import doesn't succeed in icem the software should report why it doesn't accept the geometry. Is there any message?

Possible work around: Import the iges file in Rhino, and convert it to another IGES format (there are various formats available) accepted by icem.

Yep. I checked the iges file and imported it to catia and it works. I suspected that there was a problem with Icem license and now more convinced that this is the culprit. I have no rhino installed, just freeship, catia and icem.

Thanks for the help, Martijn_vE. I'll update you when I get the Icem license fixed and see if it can import my hull design.
