Changing a Vessles name

    hoytedow Carbon Based Life Form

    You can cover a vessel's name but you must not remove the original according to the United States Coast Guard or something bad will befall you. The United States Coast Guard Cutter Eagle still has the name Horst Wessel on the ship but it is hidden beneath the name Eagle on the Captain's Casket behind the rearmost helm. All the woodwork in the photo is original German from circa 1936 except for the plank engraved with Eagle. The Plank directly under the Eagle plank still bears the name Horst Wessel.

    Once you seel a boat, you lose all rights. I suppose you could've written a contract to make the new owner keep the name.
