Is there a design reason that a Sail Drive could not be made for 250 hp or even 300 hp?

I have the same idea - ive started a prototype on my hull using an Alpha1 drive mounted through the hull, with a conventional rudder for steering. Its powered by a V8 nissan engine.

Heres a pic of my setup - although its not ready to go yet. And i've come up with a better design which i'll implement.
