i would like to see a slide-in-out catamaran designed

    Practicality, to me.

    One does not alter beam to moor a boat, right?

    Seems narrower beam is really to fit road or hard storage requirements, cat, outrigger or proa, you think about it.

    Recall the venerable Shark catamaran, ingenious wide folding rig designed by Rod McAlpine-Downey in the late 60/early 70s? Not a "cruiser."

    Practicality or surety (safety) is priority and as Richard notes, dependent on many factors.

    Simple is best
