The stringer I've dug out of my boat was encapsulated with a ton of fiberglass and gellcoat (bilg area). Can I laminate up another section of plywood outside of the current stringer, and encapsulate with epoxy/glass mat?

    thanks,
    david

BTW, this site has taught me more than anything else out there. I appreciate the feedback.

Yes, you can. Preferably with epoxy, it sticks better to polyester.

If you use epoxy it is best to use cloth. The mat will use a lot of extra resin an make a weaker laminate. With mat you can do the repair with polyester. It is routinely done with good results.
