I have a project to run a construction of one dragon boat of 90 feet
(Asian Boat race canoe) 50 crew
i want to use balsa sandwich with two layer at +45/-45 inside
and the same layers composition outside plus one horizontal for classic boat looking and longitudinal strenght
i prospect to use for wood one local species to be very close in weight, smell and veneer than the red cedar

i have already built one mini transat on this process (whith mahogany)

But i expect any advises, experiences (good or bad)

    For all your help
    thanks so much

    Best regards

    Michel Couderc

PS/ sorry for my poor english

The question I would have regarding your plan is will the duracore strips bend enough to conform to the curve of the hull at the 45 degree angle? If they will I think it will work fine. I have heard of many boats built in a very similar fashion. It sounds like you will need a lot of duracore and a lot of epoxy.
