How many coats of gelcoat should I apply? Does it need to be sanded between? I plan to roll it on. Will the gelcoat run a lot if I apply too thick? can I avoid this?

I an repainting the outside of a small dinghy and want to know what grit I should start with to sand/polish. does it have to be wet?

well, that ought to get me going. . . anything else I should know?

    thanks in advance.

p.s. I preped with 80 grit is that course enough? still looks fairly smooth & shiney.
