Looking for calculation methods to determine the hull resistance of a barge or similar vessel.

Any programs, spreadsheets, links or papers would be most useful.

    Thanks

    ChrisGibbs,

Looking for the information about Holtrop method or ( may be ) Series 60 method.

The limits for Holtrop method are:
    3.9 < L/B < 15
    2.1 < B/T < 4
    0 < FnL < 0.45
    0.55 < Cp < 0.85
    Speed limit:
    none < FnL < 0.45

The limits for Series 60 method are:
    5.5 < L/B < 8.5
    2.5 < B/T < 3.5
    0.15 < FnL < 0.27
    0.6 < Cp < 0.8
    -2,48% < LCB < 3.51%
    Speed limit:
    0.282 < FnV < 0.677

    Where:

    L WL's length
    B WL's beam
    T Hull's draft
    Cp Prismatic coefficient
LCB Longitudinal centre of buoyancy, measured from midships ( "+" is fore ).
FnL Froude number for wl's length
FnV Froude number for volume displacement.

Hi here is the reference of a sname technical paper

Model Resistance Data Sheets: 12 Barges
    Authors: SNAME
Subject: Resistance, General, Model Testing, Barges
    T&R No. D-8

make sure that if you use a regression method includes barges.
not any regression method will do for barges.

    ChrisGibbs,

this is an approximate power prediction method by J. Holtrop & G.G.J. Mennen.

Typos in Holtrop & Mennen's paper

Dim's copy of Holtrop & Mennen's paper should be treated with caution. I have found two typos, and am now satisfied with the results, having compared over a hundred different designs.

The errors on the first paper are for m1 - page 2 - should read -4.79323 (ie minus) and the final page, 5, c15 is -1.69... ie minus again.
