So, I have epoxy and triax with pretty deep grooves.

Does anyone have enough experience with SeaDek to tell me whether I have to fair first? Hoping no.

It will only stick to the surface it touches, if it doesn't touch much, it doesn't stick much.

    Clean, clean, clean!
I’m considering same, my decks are commercial grade rough, maybe bedliner , unsandable, unscrapable, and not responsive to epoxy removers. To make matters worse, they’ve been painted over, and that’s coming off at random.
My fear is that if water is allowed under it, it will loosen the adhesive.
I have used stick on decking over smooth gelcoat and aluminum with excellent results.

I will lay a single pass of fairing compound over it. Thanks for keeping me straight. Want to launch so looking for shortcuts now..

It’s commonly used over factory nonskid gelcoat surfaces, not always with great success.
Look it up on THT forums, aplenty of user reports there.
