Hull framing analysis in Ansys.

I know how to use Rhino and Maxsurf. But how do you go by to make a model with framings in Ansys to be used for an FEA?

 

Have you used FEA before?

 

I've tried it only with Solidworks, But just simple things like a frame or a deck-supported frame. For deck-supported frames, I model it as a single solid in Rhino and export it to Solidworks, I have also tried using bonding. What I want to test specifically is Longitudinal hull girder strength as the boat we are building has huge amounts of ballast concentrated on one area of the boat, it seems that I can import the hull from maxsurf to ansys. I was able to view it, but I'm not sure how to add framings. or if there is a way to even add framings.

For Ansys, I'm still learning. But it seems close to solidworks.

 

Then do that.
Make your frames as line elements (of a frame) and keep the hull surface and then make them as shell elements.
If you try any more detailed, you'll be over your head.
It gets complex, very very quickly.

 

That is a simple hand calculation.
Don't need FEA for that..!

 

I did but management wants to see an FEA model done.
